| GITAM Institute of Technology (GIT) formerly known as College of Engineering was established in the year 1980 in Visakhapatnam with four UG courses in Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Production & Industrial Engineering. Responding to the changing technological scenario, the college started other B.Tech courses in Electronics & Communications Engineering in 1981, Computer Science & Engineering in 1986, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering in 1995, Information Technology in 2000 and Biotechnology in 2002. PG courses such as M.Tech in Computer Science & Technology, CAD / CAM and Structural Engineering & Natural Disaster Management courses were added over the years. Several departments in the college made pioneering beginnings and significant contributions since their inception.
