EASWARI ENGINEERING COLLEGE (EEC), a Division of Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Group (SRM GROUP) of Educational Institutions for higher Learning, is functioning under the aegis of Valliammai Educational Society, since 1996. The Society was founded in the year 1975 by Thiru.T.R.Pachamuthu, a well-known Teacher and Educationist, for promoting the cause of Education.
Having developed the concept for true Education and intellectual integrity, the SRM Group focuses on providing world-class education. The group seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars in a wide range of disciplines with clear Vision, Bold Initiatives, Wisdom, Sincerity or Purpose, Commitment for Education, Spirit, Drive and Iron Will, the SRM Group has gown over the years.
Today, the SRM GROUP, with its more than 17 Educational Institutions, in different locations in the Country, is highly ranked amongst the leading Groups of Educational Institutions. A major thrust is placed for enhancing excellence through a large variety of structured Academic Programs, designed with Topics of relevance, as per UGC Norms; These are included in the Curricula of the SRM Deemed University; these cover Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate Courses and Ph.D. Programs in various Disciplines, such as, Engineering and Technology, Medicine, Dental Science and Surgery, Life Sciences, Management, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Paramedical, Nursing and Arts and Science.
The establishment of “Easwari Engineering College for Women” during the Academic Year 1996-97 heralded a bold step towards “Women’s Empowerment” in the State Capital Chennai. The focus for providing Engineering Education for Women stems from considerations that women compete and excel very well both academically and professionally in Computer Science and Engineering and in IT related areas. This was a pioneering effort in the field of Technical Education in Tamil Nadu. The College has been named after Madam Easwari Pachamuthu, wife of the Founder Chairman. Easwari Engineering College thus acquires the status being the only Engineering College for Women affiliated to the University of Madras and the only Engineering College for Women in Chennai.

The College was originally affiliated to the University of Madras. Pursuant to the Government decision on Technical Education, Anna University had taken over reigns of all Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu in December 2001. As of now, the College is affiliated to Anna University.
