About Dr.MGR Education & Research Institute (MGR University)
The Dr.MGR Education & Research Institute (MGR University) was established in 1988 as Dr.MGR Engineering College. Deemed University status has been granted to two colleges in the name and style of Dr.MGR EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE (Deemed University) , Chennai, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission, Government of India. (MHRD, Gol Notification No. F.9-1/2002-U.3 dt. 21.01.2003 and UGC Notification F.6.6/2002(CPP-I) dt. 13.03.03
The University has three main Faculties Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Medicine and Dental Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences
The educational programs are so designed to raise the level of professional standards in the fields of Engineering, Technology, Science, Medicine, Dentistry and Humanities in order to cater to the ever increasing demands in the respective domains and provide the youth with the best oppurtunities and environment for education and research so as to help them attain high levels of academic excellence, scientific spirit, technical and professional competence in order to enable them face extremely competitive ambience and also to become entrepreneurs.
